About the role
The Buffalo Board of Education is seeking a temporary School Clerk for PS #42 Occupational Training Center. The clerk will support the Principal and Assistant Principal by handling a wide range of administrative tasks in a fast‑paced school environment.
Key responsibilities
- Serve as liaison between school leadership, faculty, staff and visitors.
- Prepare, type and reproduce letters, bulletins, forms and memoranda.
- Compile, enter and maintain weekly, monthly and annual reports, payrolls and student records.
- Receive, sort and distribute incoming mail and manage outgoing correspondence.
- Issue transcripts, maintain permanent student record cards and handle record requests.
- Requisition, receive and distribute school supplies and materials.
- Process cash receipts, issue receipts and maintain related financial reports.
- Operate telephone switchboard and standard office equipment.
Required profile
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and follow office policies and procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in record‑keeping and payroll processing.
- Capable of working under general supervision of the Principal/Assistant Principal.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with faculty, staff and the public.
Required skills
- Proficiency with typewriter, CRT terminal, personal computer and word‑processing software.
- Experience operating printers and telephone switchboards.
- Knowledge of payroll entry and financial receipt handling.
- Competence in maintaining and updating student and staff records.

- Competitive salary range $46,802 – $54,363 per year.
