Technical Program Manager, Databases

About the role

Anthropic is looking for a Technical Program Manager to lead the strategy and execution of its database infrastructure. The role focuses on building a highly available, 24/7/365 database platform that powers Anthropic’s AI services across multiple regions, clouds, and deployment models.

Key responsibilities

• Own the roadmap and execution for cross‑region, multi‑cloud, and hybrid‑cloud database strategies.
• Coordinate with database vendors, hyperscalers, internal platform teams, and infrastructure groups.
• Manage external vendor and cloud‑provider relationships, including commitments, escalations, and joint roadmaps.
• Identify and mitigate dependencies, risks, and trade‑offs for critical database operations.
• Produce program documentation such as roadmaps, status reports, risk assessments, and communication plans.
• Facilitate technical decision‑making by aligning stakeholders and resolving blocking issues.

Required profile

• Several years of experience in technical program management delivering complex, cross‑functional programs.
• Background in database, storage, or core infrastructure programs with the ability to engage engineers.
• Proven experience managing external vendor or cloud‑provider relationships at an operational level.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple parallel workstreams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with the ability to influence without formal authority.
• Passion for Anthropic’s mission to build safe and beneficial AI systems.

Required skills

• Experience leading database or core infrastructure programs.
• Experience with vendor and cloud‑provider relationship management.
• Familiarity with cross‑region, multi‑cloud, or hybrid‑cloud environments (preferred).
