About the role

The Madison Club, a Discovery Land Company location outside La Quinta, CA, is seeking a Sushi Cook to join its Food and Beverage Culinary Department. You will work closely with the Sushi Chef to create fresh fish dishes, maintain menu standards, and contribute to the overall member experience.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Sushi Chef with preparation and ensure consistent quality and presentation of sushi items.
• Address member or guest concerns professionally and courteously.
• Monitor inventory levels, communicate needs, and minimize waste or contamination.
• Complete daily cleaning schedules, temperature logs, and opening/closing checklists.
• Identify and report damaged serving items, ensuring proper breakage records.
• Maintain a safe, clean work environment and follow all health and food‑handling standards.
• Research and propose new menu items based on trends, local products, and member requests.
• Participate in department meetings, trainings, and any additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Culinary degree or certificate preferred.
• Food handler card required within 7 days of hire.
• Minimum two years of experience in high‑end sushi restaurants.
• Extensive knowledge of sushi preparation and overall cookery techniques.
• Strong understanding of occupational health and safety.
• Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and excellent communication skills.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and long hours as needed.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and stay calm during busy periods.
• Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.
