Surveyor-in-Training for Utility-Scale Wind & Solar Projects

About the role

We are looking for an energetic Surveyor‑in‑Training (SIT) to support large‑scale wind and solar development projects across the United States. The role combines field coordination, boundary analysis, and high‑volume survey production while ensuring compliance with ALTA/NSPS standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assist RPLS in all phases of ALTA/NSPS land title surveys for utility‑scale wind and solar projects.
• Perform deed and title research, including Schedule B exception review and easement analysis.
• Conduct boundary analysis, tract breakdowns, and resolve title conflicts.
• Verify field crew layouts and execute field QA/QC for ALTA compliance.
• Draft ALTA plats, boundary and easement exhibits using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Coordinate with title companies, project managers, and clients to meet survey requirements.
• Support and guide field crews, providing technical direction as needed.
• Travel to field sites and manage multiple projects across several states.
• Train junior staff and review survey data for accuracy and compliance.

Required profile

• Valid driver’s license.
• Surveyor‑in‑Training (SIT) certification or ability to obtain within one year.
• Minimum 5 years of land surveying experience, preferably on ALTA/NSPS surveys and large‑scale development projects.
• Experience with utility‑scale wind and/or solar projects is preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree preferred.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team and manage multiple state‑wide projects.

Required skills

• AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• MicroStation (a plus).
• GPS and Robotic Total Stations.
• Boundary analysis and legal description writing.
• Deed research and title commitment review.
