About the role

Issue Workflow is Sentry’s primary product surface, processing billions of events daily to turn them into actionable insights for developers. As a Staff Software Engineer on the Issue Workflow team you will architect high‑scale distributed systems, building real‑time data pipelines, search backends, and analysis systems that surface signal from noise. This product engineering role operates at massive scale, where every architectural decision impacts millions of debugging sessions.

Key responsibilities

• Drive technical strategy and roadmap, partnering with engineering leadership, product, and design to shape the multi‑quarter vision for the Issue Workflow platform, making strategic architectural and technology decisions.
• Solve complex performance and scalability challenges across billions‑of‑events workloads.
• Champion product quality and user experience by building features that delight, instrumenting everything to measure and improve performance.
• Mentor and elevate other engineers, helping them grow their skills and celebrating wins together.

Required profile

• Distributed systems engineer with deep understanding of high‑scale architectures, eventual consistency, partitioning, caching, and graceful degradation.
• Product‑mindset, able to collaborate with Product and Design and translate technical constraints into user‑centric terms.
• Strong full‑stack instincts, understanding the end‑to‑end flow from data ingestion to browser rendering.
• Committed to inclusion, regularly sharing knowledge and supporting teammates’ growth.
