Staff Software Engineer (Backend) – Everand Core

About the role

As a Staff Software Engineer on the Everand Core team, you’ll own the backend platform powering Everand’s web and mobile experiences, driving discoverability, personalization, and core consumption journeys.

Key responsibilities

• Set technical direction for the Everand backend, write and socialize design documents, and drive architecture reviews.
• Own backend reliability and platform health, including CI/CD, databases, queues, cost, and observability.
• Mentor engineers, conduct PR reviews, and raise the team’s technical bar.
• Modernize legacy systems, eliminate technical debt, and support large‑scale migrations.

Required profile

• Significant experience building and scaling distributed backend systems.
• Proven technical leadership, setting architectural direction and mentoring engineers.
• Strong collaboration skills with product, design, analytics, and ML partners.

Required skills

• Backend programming in Ruby (preferred), Scala, Go, or Python.
• Experience with reliability, observability, SLOs, metrics, and alerts.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, databases, queues, and cost management.

What we offer

• Base salary range $141,000–$267,000 depending on location.
