Staff+ Software Engineer – Account Abuse

About the role

Anthropic is looking for a Staff+ Software Engineer to join its Account Abuse team. You will design and implement large‑scale systems that detect, analyze, and mitigate abusive activity on Anthropic’s platforms, helping ensure fair resource allocation and a safe user experience.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain signal‑gathering pipelines and intervention mechanisms across multiple services.
• Integrate third‑party data‑enrichment vendors and build monitoring dashboards, alerts, and internal admin tools.
• Collaborate with data scientists to track usage patterns and with Policy & Enforcement to maximize human‑review impact.
• Lead root‑cause analyses and deep‑dive investigations of account activity to uncover abuse patterns and emerging attack vectors.
• Design robust, multi‑layered defenses that balance security with system stability.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of software engineering experience, preferably in integrity, spam, fraud, or abuse detection.
• Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python.
• Proficiency in SQL.
• Experience with data analysis tools.
