Staff Power Electronics Engineer

About the role

Shield AI is a venture‑backed defense‑tech company developing autonomous aircraft such as V‑BAT. We are seeking a Staff Power Electronics Engineer to lead the design, development, and integration of flight‑critical power systems for our high‑performance unmanned aircraft.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end power system design for V‑BAT, including high‑voltage and low‑voltage electronics such as inverters, DC‑DC converters and battery‑management systems.
• Lead design, verification, and manufacturing deployment while mentoring junior engineers and providing technical feedback across electrical, mechanical and software teams.
• Drive PCB layout and ECAD collaboration, optimizing for power density, EMI, thermal performance and manufacturability.
• Manage full‑cycle hardware development from concept, modeling and worst‑case analysis through prototyping, testing, validation and production release.
• Conduct cross‑functional design reviews, ensure safety, reliability and manufacturability, and oversee project timelines and technical milestones.

Required profile

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 6+ years of experience in power electronics engineering.
• Proven track record of leading multiple product design cycles involving electrical, mechanical and software engineering.
• Demonstrated extreme ownership and ability to deliver high‑quality solutions in fast‑paced environments.
