Staff Engineer – Composite Advanced Manufacturing

About the role

Shield AI is seeking a Staff Engineer to lead composite advanced manufacturing initiatives for its next‑generation jet programs. The role involves building new production line infrastructure, optimizing processes, and mentoring engineering teams.

Key responsibilities

• Act as technical leader across programs, designing and optimizing high‑impact manufacturing processes.
• Scale up flagship product line while balancing throughput, quality, and cost.
• Lead the launch of a new production line for a larger jet, including equipment selection and tooling deployment.
• Develop CPD/Fibersim definitions and producibility assessments for composite parts.
• Engage with vendors to source and integrate capital equipment, production tools, and automation systems.
• Mentor engineers and production personnel to build organizational capability.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of manufacturing engineering experience in rapid‑growth environments.
• Proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks, NX, or CATIA.
• Experience with Composite Part Design (CPD), Fibersim, and Generative Shape Design (GSD).
• Strong understanding of composite processes including machining, lamination, and assembly.
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
