Staff Design Engineer

About the role

We are hiring a Staff Design Engineer to own Stylus, our design system, and ensure high‑quality delivery across our web app, desktop app, browser extension and marketing site. The role sits at the intersection of design and front‑end engineering, using AI as a collaborator.

Key responsibilities

• Own the Stylus design system roadmap, triage requests, and drive component adoption, accessibility coverage and documentation health.
• Build complex UI components where aesthetics and performance trade‑offs exist, and decide which become shared primitives.
• Prototype interactive experiences in React and TypeScript, validate with users, and iterate directly with designers.
• Maintain alignment between design tokens and code, migrate legacy components, and improve Figma‑to‑code tooling.
• Explore AI‑ready UX patterns, create primitives for agent‑facing interfaces, and share prompts and workflows with the team.

Required profile

• 8+ years of front‑end development experience with strong design sensibility and deep knowledge of CSS, the DOM and browser rendering.
• Proven experience building and governing a design system, including components, tokens, versioning and adoption.
• Ability to make product‑level interaction decisions and say “no” when appropriate.
• Hands‑on experience with AI coding assistants such as Cursor or Claude Code.
• Default handling of accessibility, keyboard, touch input and user preferences.
