Sr. Product Reliability Engineer - MV Transformers

About the role

CORE Transformers is hiring its first dedicated Senior Product Reliability Engineer for medium‑voltage transformers. You will own field performance, warranty claims, quality escapes, and engineering changes for units already in production, working closely with quality, manufacturing, and sales while reporting to the VP of Engineering.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary engineering owner for field issues, warranty claims, and quality escapes, conducting root‑cause investigations and corrective actions.
• Manage the engineering change process for existing standard designs, evaluating requests and issuing updated drawings and specifications.
• Partner with quality teams and overseas manufacturing partners to tighten inspection, in‑process, and outgoing test criteria based on field experience.
• Provide installation and field support for sales, contractors, and customers, including on‑site troubleshooting when needed.
• Maintain and improve technical documentation such as drawings, spec sheets, installation guides, and accessory configurations.
• Oversee product and company certifications with relevant agencies to sustain customer confidence.
• Track field‑defect trends, report them to Quality, and drive design improvements to eliminate recurring issues.
• Support third‑party testing and validation follow‑up whenever field issues arise.
• Help build out CORE’s quality‑support function as the team expands.

Required profile

• Hands‑on, detail‑oriented professional who enjoys closing the loop between field issues and permanent fixes.
• Working knowledge of inside‑the‑tank transformer fundamentals and outside‑the‑tank systems (switchgear integration, protection devices, CT configurations).
• Comfortable acting as the technical point of contact for customers, installers, and contractors.
• Organized enough to run a disciplined change and documentation process.
• Willing to challenge existing shipped designs and say “this needs to change.”
• Motivated to build a sustaining/quality engineering function from the ground up.

Required skills

• Root‑cause analysis using 8D, 5‑Why, or similar methodologies.
• Engineering change management and drawing revision control.
• Medium‑voltage transformer design fundamentals (dry‑type and liquid‑filled).
• Switchgear integration and protection device expertise.
• Current‑transformer (CT) configuration knowledge.
• Ability to read, markup, and update engineering drawings.
