Software Engineer, Infrastructure

About the role

Cognition is an applied AI lab building end‑to‑end software agents such as Devin, the first AI software engineer, and Windsurf, an AI‑native IDE. The Infrastructure team powers these products by delivering reliable, scalable compute and platform services.

Key responsibilities

• Design, operate, and scale sandboxed compute environments for agent execution, including VM orchestration, container management, and resource scheduling.
• Build and maintain internal developer platforms: CI/CD pipelines, deployment systems, and tooling that enable rapid product shipping.
• Define SLOs, implement monitoring and alerting, lead incident response, and ensure post‑mortem follow‑up.
• Anticipate capacity and architectural needs, making proactive infrastructure investments to support product growth.
• Collaborate closely with product engineers and researchers to align infrastructure with evolving requirements.

Required profile

• Demonstrated deep systems engineering experience.
• Strong focus on reliability, scalability, and operational excellence.
