Software Engineer – Experimentation Platform

About the role

Netflix is looking for a senior software engineer to join the Experience Foundation team within the Experimentation Platform. You will design, build, and operate next‑generation services that power A/B test allocation, adaptive experimentation, and feature rollouts for millions of members worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Build and evolve high‑scale, low‑latency experimentation and feature‑flag services.
• Advance core distributed systems for decentralized allocation, rule evaluation, and real‑time decisioning.
• Own reliability and performance, participate in on‑call rotation, lead incident response, and drive long‑term reliability improvements.
• Instrument services with observability (metrics, logs, traces) and continuously tune for resilience, performance, and scalability.
• Shape data and integration surfaces, collaborating with teams using Flink, Spark, Elasticsearch, and Druid.
• Define clear data and API contracts for consumers and pipelines.
• Simplify the developer experience for configuring, launching, and monitoring experiments and feature flags.

Required profile

• Proven experience building and operating scalable, reliable backend services.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, algorithms, and systems design.
• Ability to work effectively with senior engineers and cross‑functional partners, bringing clarity to ambiguous problems.

Required skills

• Java or another JVM language.
• Experience with Flink, Spark, Elasticsearch, and Druid.
