Sheet Metal Worker

About the role

Amentum is hiring a Sheet Metal Worker to work onsite at the NASA Johnson Space Center. The worker performs assigned sheet metal duties, including ductwork and roof curbs, dampers and gutters, and must be a U.S. citizen to obtain the required NASA badge.

Key responsibilities

• Perform sheet metal workmanship as assigned.
• Form and install ductwork.
• Perform material layouts.
• Install roof curbs, dampers and gutters.
• Ensure work is completed safely, on time and to a clean standard ready for customer use.

Required profile

• U.S. citizenship and a valid Texas driver's license (REAL ID).
• High school diploma or GED, or 5 years of relevant experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, spoken and written.
• Must pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen, and an asbestos physical; must be able to wear a respirator.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs and climb into tight spaces.
• Clean, neat, professional appearance.
• Preferred: prior knowledge of the NASA site and experience on government installations.

Required skills

• Hand tools such as aviation snips, nippers and sheet metal tongs.
• Power tools such as shears, breakers and crimpers.
• Differentiating gauges and types of metal.
• Knowledge of basic installation codes.
