About the role
The university is seeking a Sessional Lecturer to teach HIS103Y1-Y, a two‑hour weekly course on Strategy and Statecraft covering the development of the international system from 1600 to 1945. The role involves delivering in‑person lectures, preparing course materials, and assessing student work.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and update the course syllabus and teaching materials.
- Deliver two‑hour weekly lectures on Tuesdays (11:00‑13:00) in person.
- Mark assignments, exams, and provide timely feedback.
- Supervise teaching assistants in accordance with the CUPE 3902 Unit 1 Collective Agreement.
- Hold one hour of scheduled office hours per week for student consultations.
Required profile
- Master of Arts in History or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated mastery of the subject areas outlined in the course description.
- Preferred: PhD in History and evidence of superior undergraduate teaching.
- Prior experience teaching a comparable history course is highly desirable.
