Senior/Staff Software Engineer (Backend-focused)

About the role

Second Nature is looking for a highly experienced Senior/Staff Software Engineer to lead the development of innovative and scalable backend solutions. You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams to design, implement, and maintain mission‑critical systems while mentoring junior engineers and shaping the technology strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design, architecture, and development of high‑performance, scalable backend services and APIs.
• Write, test, and maintain high‑quality code that meets functional and non‑functional requirements.
• Contribute to architectural decisions, ensuring scalability, performance, and maintainability.
• Conduct code reviews, uphold coding standards, and drive continuous improvement in development processes.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong background in software design and architecture, especially microservices and domain‑driven design.
• Experience with TypeScript, Node.js, AWS, PostgreSQL and SQL.
• Proficiency with AI‑assisted coding tools such as Claude Code, Copilot, or Cursor.
