Senior Software Engineer, Issue Detection

About the role

Sentry’s issue platform processes billions of events daily to help developers find and fix bugs. As a Senior Software Engineer on the Issue Detection team you will design, build, and operate real‑time pipelines, monitors, and analysis systems that turn raw events into actionable issues. Your work will directly influence detection accuracy, processing latency, and the overall developer experience.

Key responsibilities

• Build and scale features that process billions of events daily, ensuring low latency and high correctness.
• Own end‑to‑end design and delivery of large projects, from scoping with product and design to shipping and instrumentation.
• Make technical product decisions on grouping quality, search performance, migrations and backfills across massive datasets.
• Champion product quality and user experience by refining interfaces, error messages and edge‑case handling.

Required profile

• Experienced distributed‑systems engineer familiar with eventual consistency, partitioning, caching and query optimization.
• Product‑minded collaborator who can translate technical constraints into user‑centric language.
• Full‑stack instincts with understanding of data ingestion, API design and frontend performance.
• Mentor who helps teammates grow their skills and shares knowledge generously.
