Senior Software Engineer – Decision Management Platform

About the role

Mastercard is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help design and build the next‑generation Decision Management Platform – a real‑time system that scores and approves billions of payment transactions. The role is hands‑on, involving daily coding, prototyping, and the use of AI‑assisted development tools to deliver high‑quality features at scale.

Key responsibilities

• Write production code for services, tooling, and platform features.
• Design and implement components of large distributed systems.
• Build reusable services, libraries, and integrations.
• Take prototypes from concept to working software.
• Select appropriate frameworks, libraries, and tools, balancing quality, cost, latency, and reliability.
• Leverage AI coding tools as the default workflow and share best practices with the team.
• Improve customer experience by simplifying designs, reducing cost or latency, and paying down technical debt.
• Collaborate across teams on multi‑service designs and provide constructive feedback in reviews.
• Mentor peers and junior engineers, and participate in interview processes.

Required profile

• Demonstrated ability to ship real features in large‑scale distributed systems.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and a data‑driven mindset.
• Experience working closely with senior engineers, architects, and product managers.
• Willingness to adopt AI‑assisted development tools and automate repetitive tasks.
