Senior Software Engineer - Backend

About the role

CodeRabbit is building AI‑native developer tooling to transform code review. As a Senior Backend Engineer you will design and implement the core backend services that power AI‑driven code analysis, agent workflows, and developer dashboards. You will work closely with ML researchers, infrastructure specialists, and product teams to deliver reliable, high‑performance systems at scale.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and build scalable backend services, APIs, and distributed systems.
• Collaborate with ML engineers to integrate models into agent‑based products.
• Guide junior engineers through mentorship and technical reviews.
• Own architectural decisions for new product features.
• Ensure reliability, performance, and security across all systems.
• Contribute to a fast‑moving engineering culture focused on quality and pragmatic innovation.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience building backend systems and distributed infrastructure.
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, AI or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong systems thinking with familiarity in cloud platforms (AWS/GCP), containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), CI/CD pipelines, and production observability.
• Proven ability to mentor and influence technical direction without formal management.

Required skills

• TypeScript and Node.js (or comparable modern backend stack).
• Microservices, async job queues, event‑driven architectures.
• Cloud services (AWS, GCP) and container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• CI/CD tooling, devops practices, runtime infrastructure, and observability.
• Software engineering best practices: testing, code reviews, version control.
• Experience with code search, code graphs, tree‑sitter, static analysis tools.
• Integration of AI/LLM‑based systems into product workflows.
