Senior Professional Engineer - Drainage

About the role

As a Senior Professional Engineer specializing in drainage, you will work on large, multi‑discipline transportation projects, delivering hydrology and hydraulic designs for bridges, roadways, and highways. The role offers the chance to develop diverse skill sets while collaborating with project managers, designers, and client agencies.

Key responsibilities

• Perform and direct hydrology and hydraulic design work for DOT projects, including bridges, roadways, highways, and freeways.
• Prepare studies, reports, plans, specifications, and cost estimates for transportation projects.
• Collaborate with project managers, design engineers, technicians, and support staff to complete projects on schedule.
• Interface with state and local agency clients and coordinate meetings with project stakeholders.
• Assist in proposal preparation and deliver oral presentations.
• Develop scope, schedule, and budget for new projects and ensure deadlines are met.

Required profile

• Undergraduate or graduate degree in civil engineering from an accredited program.
• Registered Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• 8–12 years of hydraulics design experience, including roadway drainage, flood control, erosion control, and stormwater treatment facilities.
• Experience working with transportation and flood control agencies is preferred.
• Proven ability to manage concurrent projects and meet budgets and deadlines.

Required skills

• MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer (ORD) proficiency.
• ORD Drainage and Utilities, StormCAD, PondPack, HEC‑HMS, HEC‑RAS.
• Working knowledge of DOT, AASHTO, and FHWA highway drainage design criteria and guidelines.
