Senior Process Engineer

About the role

Antora Energy is developing thermal energy storage systems that provide zero-carbon industrial heat and power at scale. The company is looking for a self-driven, hands-on Process Engineer to scope, define, and design balance-of-plant systems for test, pilot, and commercial deployments of its solid-state thermal battery technology.

Key responsibilities

• Define, develop, and own process engineering requirements and specifications for balance-of-plant systems, including heat and mass balances, PFDs, and P&IDs.
• Translate project and system-level requirements into executable process designs for test and commercial thermal energy storage projects.
• Review cross-functional engineering deliverables such as equipment specifications, piping layouts, instrumentation, and controls concepts.
• Participate in process safety reviews, including PHAs, HAZOPs, HAZIDs, and related risk assessments.
• Conduct engineering trade studies balancing performance, cost, manufacturability, operability, safety, and schedule.
• Support selection and specification of industrial mechanical equipment (pressure vessels, pumps, heat exchangers, fans, tanks, valves, etc.).
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, thermal, fluids, controls, operations, manufacturing, and project execution teams.
• Assist commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of thermal energy storage systems.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in chemical, mechanical, process, industrial, or related engineering.
• 8+ years of experience in industrial process engineering, plant engineering, or related roles in oil & gas, chemicals, power generation, or heavy industrial equipment.
• Proven experience developing heat and mass balances, PFDs, P&IDs, equipment specifications, and process design basis documents.
• Working knowledge of ASME, API, TEMA, and ASTM codes and standards.
• Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a first-principles approach.
