Senior Machine Learning Engineer

About the role

Seasats is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to own development, training, and edge deployment of perception models for autonomous maritime vehicles. The role involves taking models from experiment to production, curating fleet data, and ensuring safe navigation in dynamic ocean environments.

Key responsibilities

• Define and drive the ML roadmap for vehicle perception and run experiments with measurable impact.
• Train, fine‑tune, and optimize models for compute‑limited edge hardware and validate real‑time performance.
• Build and maintain data pipelines, including analysis, organization, and labeling of fleet datasets.
• Establish evaluation frameworks and metrics to ensure model reliability before deployment at sea.

Required profile

• 7+ years of machine‑learning experience, with 5+ years in production perception systems.
• Deep computer‑vision background, including work with foundation models and custom models.
• Proven track record shipping performant ML models to edge devices, using quantization, pruning, TensorRT or ONNX Runtime.
• Strong Python proficiency, expert‑level PyTorch, and solid OpenCV knowledge.
• Experience with MLOps tooling, dataset versioning, experiment tracking, and model deployment.
• Ability to work independently, lead technical efforts, and mentor engineers.
