Senior M&A Reporter – US Intelligence Origination

About the role

Gain is expanding its Intelligence Origination team in the United States. As a Senior M&A Reporter you will produce news‑style intelligence on live private‑equity transactions for a global professional audience, leveraging AI‑assisted editorial workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Build, cultivate and maintain an extensive in‑person network of professional sources across the financial ecosystem, including investment bankers, private‑equity professionals, lenders, legal advisors, consultants, and senior executives.
• Conduct daily off‑record, high‑trust conversations to surface non‑public insights on deal activity.
• Monitor and identify emerging and active M&A transactions, providing comprehensive local market coverage through continuous source engagement and independent reporting.
• Produce accurate, timely, insight‑driven market intelligence based on original reporting and direct source relationships, adhering to strict confidentiality and journalistic standards such as fact‑checking, source verification, double‑sourcing, and solicitation of comment.

Required profile

• Proven experience in financial journalism, deal sourcing, or related intelligence functions.
• Strong ability to build trust with high‑level market participants and extract proprietary information.
• Excellent written communication skills with a focus on concise, news‑style reporting.
• Commitment to confidentiality and rigorous journalistic ethics.
