Senior Graphic Designer

About the role

HDR is seeking a Senior Graphic Designer to join its Virginia/DC/Maryland Strategic Communications team. The role focuses on visual storytelling for HDR’s clients, delivering high‑impact design solutions that support the firm’s mission of shaping resilient, sustainable communities.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, manage and deliver design projects from concept through completion.
• Develop and present materials for meetings, task forces, and client engagements.
• Collaborate with other designers on multicomponent projects and partner with clients to shape deliverables.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to junior designers.
• Conceptualize and design corporate and marketing materials.
• Research production techniques and technologies as needed for each project.
• Ensure quality control through proof approvals, press checks, and material testing.
• Set overall design strategy, vision, and direction, leveraging interactive design capabilities.
