Senior Buyer

About the role

Moog is seeking a Senior Buyer to join its high‑volume production facility in Salt Lake City, supporting the Space and Defense Group. The role focuses on purchasing for assembly and test of defense products, building strong supplier relationships, and ensuring on‑time, high‑quality deliveries.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and qualify sources that meet Moog’s value, delivery, and quality criteria.
• Execute the full procurement process, including sourcing, supplier selection, technical evaluation, cost/price analysis, and purchase order generation.
• Develop and negotiate long‑term purchasing agreements for moderately complex commodities.
• Maintain deep knowledge of the supply base, pricing trends, and market conditions.
• Lead regular status meetings with suppliers and monitor performance, collaborating with Quality and Supplier Development Engineering.
• Resolve delivery, receiving, certification, and invoice issues to ensure schedule adherence.
• Maintain accurate procurement data in Moog’s ERP system and ensure compliance with FAR and contract law.
• Support proposal management with quotations, supplier selection, and cost analysis.

Required profile

• Proven experience in strategic sourcing and supplier management, preferably in a defense or aerospace environment.
• Strong analytical abilities for cost/price evaluation and market research.
• Excellent communication skills to build collaborative relationships with internal teams and external suppliers.
• Ability to work independently in an on‑site, 9/80 schedule.
