Senior Backend/Platform Engineer

About the role

TypeSafe is building the next generation of reliable AI models. As a Senior Backend/Platform Engineer you will own the API platform that powers inference for our frontier models, ensuring low latency, high availability and backward compatibility for our users.

Key responsibilities

• Design and evolve user‑facing inference APIs that are intuitive and performant.
• Build and maintain robust, multi‑cloud infrastructure for serving AI inference at scale.
• Define abstractions for billing, business logic and storage that can grow with the product.
• Expose new model capabilities to developers through API extensions.
• Collaborate with frontend, product and research teams to deliver end‑to‑end features.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 3 years focused on backend or infrastructure.
• Proven track record of shipping backend services with 99.9%+ uptime and continuous delivery.
• Experience designing storage abstractions and resilient systems for large‑scale platforms.
• Strong ownership mindset, teamwork orientation and ability to adapt specifications.
• Passion for AI and alignment with TypeSafe’s mission to create transformative AI.
