Senior Backend Engineer, Data Ingestion

About the role

As a Senior Backend Engineer you will design and build the backend systems that power Scribe’s data ingestion, workflow processing, and AI inference capabilities. You will work closely with application code while focusing on distributed systems, scalability, and performance, collaborating with teammates to deploy services on AWS.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and evolve large‑scale data ingestion and processing pipelines.
• Build services that power AI inference with in‑house models.
• Improve performance of business‑critical systems across the platform.
• Design, deploy, and operate microservices in production.
• Write reliable, maintainable code in Python, TypeScript, and Go.
• Partner with teammates to deploy and operate systems on AWS.

Required profile

• 8+ years of experience building backend applications with Python, TypeScript, or Go.
• Deep experience designing and operating distributed systems in production.
• Confidence working with message queues and task orchestration tools such as Celery, SQS, RabbitMQ, or Kafka.
• Proven track record building large‑scale data ingestion and processing systems.
• Experience designing, deploying, and maintaining microservices.
• Ability to optimize endpoint performance, improve database query efficiency, and troubleshoot bottlenecks.
• Passion for pragmatic, high‑quality code and strong ownership.
• Thrives in fast‑moving, high‑growth environments.
