Senior Backend Engineer – Agents Platform

About the role

We’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our Agents Engineering Team, which powers essential experiences at Scribe such as document viewing, editing, embedding, exporting, and key integrations. Millions of users rely on these workflows daily, and you will own impactful projects, evolve critical document features, and build new greenfield systems while collaborating across the stack.

Key responsibilities

• Build and ship backend features in our Django monolith, covering core document workflows and new greenfield projects.
• Improve performance and reliability by optimizing database queries, endpoints, and caching layers.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and frontend engineers to deliver intuitive, reliable experiences at scale.
• Contribute to technical discussions, balancing short‑term delivery with long‑term architectural evolution.
• Uphold strong engineering practices through code reviews, comprehensive test coverage, and observability.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience building high‑scale, highly available backend applications.
• Extensive experience with Python.
• Proven ability to optimize endpoint performance and database queries.
• Strong advocate for automated testing.
• Experience implementing engineering best practices.
• User‑centric, empathetic, and passionate about work.
