Senior Associate – Software Verification

About the role

Alcon is seeking a Senior Associate to lead software verification activities for cutting‑edge ophthalmic instruments. Based in Goleta, CA, you will ensure that embedded software meets the highest quality and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Verify complex embedded software throughout all phases of the development lifecycle, from planning to testing.
• Review and approve software documentation across the lifecycle.
• Write, execute, and maintain manual system‑level test cases and procedures.
• Lead or participate in project teams to drive test planning, verification, and SQA support.
• Coordinate test activities with development teams and other stakeholders.
• Support training, clinical activities, and audit preparation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (high school + 10 years, Associate + 6 years, or M.S. + 0 years).
• Fluent English communication skills.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant software verification experience.
• Strong knowledge of Agile or iterative software development life cycles.
• Experience working in FDA‑ and ISO‑regulated environments.
• Hands‑on verification and validation of embedded software systems.

Required skills

• Proficiency with test automation tools such as Ranorex, Selenium, or Sikuli.
• Familiarity with software configuration management and change management tools.
• Understanding of Agile methodology.
