Senior Analytical Technician – Refinery Catalyst

About the role

BASF’s Refinery Catalyst business unit in Attapulgus, GA is seeking a Senior Analytical Technician to support R&D activities for next‑generation fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) technologies. You will generate high‑quality analytical data that drives catalyst innovation.

Key responsibilities

• Run R&D samples on established analytical instruments during an 8‑hour shift.
• Develop and validate new analytical methods to meet evolving research needs.
• Collaborate with the analytical R&D team to plan and prioritize tasks for optimal productivity.
• Mentor and train junior technicians on laboratory practices and instrument operation.
• Identify and recommend improvements to analytical workflows and practices.

Required profile

• BS in Chemistry or related science with ≥ 4 years experience, OR Associate degree with ≥ 6 years experience, OR HS diploma with ≥ 10 years experience.
• Advanced knowledge of analytical instrumentation and laboratory equipment.
• Hands‑on experience operating, calibrating, and troubleshooting ICP and IR instruments.
• Experience with SEM‑EDS is a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication, organization, and time‑management skills.
• Proficiency with MS Office tools.
• Knowledge of safe chemical handling and detailed record‑keeping.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lb and climb ladders or stairs.
