Security Officer II PRN (Night Shift)

About the role

AdventHealth is hiring a Security Officer II for its Wesley Chapel facility in Florida, working a PRN schedule on the night shift. The officer patrols assigned areas, investigates suspicious activity and responds to emergencies while maintaining life safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Patrol assigned areas and perform all security-related tasks, keeping life safety standards in place.
• Investigate suspicious activity or persons and report hazards, unusual or suspicious circumstances.
• Respond to emergency, non-emergency and alarm calls, and respond to fire alarms during actual alarms and drills.
• Administer first aid to the level of training attained.
• Use verbal de-escalation to diffuse potentially violent situations and intervene in disputes.
• Unlock buildings and doors after checking identification and compliance with hospital policy.
• Monitor vehicle and pedestrian traffic, interview and investigate suspicious or illegal activity.
• Document safety hazards, incidents and criminal activity and report them to the appropriate parties.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• 1+ year of related experience.
• Valid driver's license.
• Able to meet departmental testing (mental, physical, etc.) if applicable to the facility.
• Ability to work independently within a team, with medical and nursing staff, and in environments with periods of crisis and stress.

Required skills

• Reading, writing and listening skills sufficient for legal reports and following simple directions.
• Interpreting safety rules, penal and vehicular codes, radio codes, policies and communications.
• Computer literacy with basic hospital and security applications; basic Windows, Word and Excel.
• Knowledge of access control and CCTV systems preferred; understanding of emergency management principles preferred.
• Certification in handcuffing, pepper spray, baton or TASER preferred.

Pay range: $18.87 - $30.19. Positions are subject to Florida Level 2 background screening, including fingerprinting. Applicants must be able to work the night shift.
