Sanctions Compliance Lead

About the role

Anthropic’s Integrity & Compliance function is expanding its global compliance program to keep pace with rapid growth in AI products. As the Sanctions Compliance Lead, you will own the end‑to‑end sanctions compliance program, set strategy and risk appetite, and work closely with senior leadership and cross‑functional partners to ensure the company meets regulatory obligations while moving quickly.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the sanctions compliance program, defining strategy, risk appetite, policy frameworks and a dynamic roadmap.
• Represent the sanctions and export‑controls function with senior leadership, regulators and cross‑functional teams.
• Continuously assess sanctions risk across products, channels and markets, and drive remediation and program enhancements.
• Govern screening and enforcement controls, oversee regulator‑facing matters and report program health to I&C leadership and the Audit Committee.
• Partner with in‑house Trade Compliance Counsel on legal interpretation and support the Regulatory Programs lead as needed.
• Develop and grow a team of trade‑compliance professionals.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading sanctions compliance and export‑control programs.
• Deep knowledge of economic sanctions, US export controls and related regulatory frameworks.
• Ability to set strategy, define risk appetite and influence senior leadership.
• Experience working with legal, internal audit, finance and first‑line teams on compliance matters.
• Strong track record of interacting with regulators and managing regulator‑facing issues.
