RN Part Time – Main Pre‑Op

About the role

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences is seeking a part‑time Registered Nurse to work in the Main Pre‑Op area. This day‑shift position supports surgical patients before they enter the operating room, ensuring safety and readiness.

Key responsibilities

• Perform pre‑operative assessments and verify patient identity, consent, and surgical site.
• Administer medications, establish IV access, and monitor vital signs.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and peri‑operative staff to coordinate patient flow.
• Document all care activities accurately in the electronic medical record.
• Provide patient education and answer questions about the upcoming procedure.

Required profile

• Current active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the United States.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Eligibility to work in the United States on the first day of employment.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
