RN – Family Birthing Unit – PRN (St. Anne)

About the role

Ochsner Health is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the Family Birthing Unit at St. Anne on a PRN (as‑needed) basis. This position plays a critical role in delivering patient‑centered care using the Nursing Process and upholding the standards of the Nurse Practice Act and ANA Code. The RN will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure high‑quality outcomes for mothers and newborns.

Key responsibilities

• Utilize the Nursing Process to provide comprehensive patient care.
• Assess learning needs and implement teaching strategies for patients, families, and interdisciplinary groups.
• Communicate, delegate, and manage nursing team resources effectively.
• Analyze data to promote change and achieve optimal clinical outcomes.
• Adapt communication and care approaches to respect cultural, ethnic, and religious diversity.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Education: Registered Nurse diploma required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.
• Experience: No prior experience required.
• Certifications: Current RN license in the state of practice and current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; specialty certification preferred.

Required skills

• Computer proficiency for data entry and retrieval of patient information.
• Ability to use Windows‑style applications and role‑specific software packages.
