Retail Pharmacist - PRN

About the role

The Retail Pharmacist (PRN) provides medication compounding, dispensing, and patient education in a community pharmacy setting. The role also supports clinical staff in managing complex drug therapies for specialty and transplant patients while ensuring compliance with state pharmacy regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Compounds and dispenses medications and extemporaneous products for outpatients.
• Provides immunizations and medication therapy management.
• Oversees technical and clerical pharmacy staff and acts as manager on duty when needed.
• Delivers drug information and patient education to physicians, patients, and health‑care workers.
• Participates in planning new projects and updates departmental policies and procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (Pharm.D preferred).
• At least 1 year of experience in a retail/community pharmacy.
• Active pharmacy license in the state of practice (or eligibility for licensure).
• Basic Life Support certification (required for immunizers).

Required skills

• Proficiency with pharmacy computer systems and web‑based applications.
• Ability to provide immunizations and medication therapy management.
• Compounding and dispensing of medications.
• Effective verbal and written communication for drug information delivery.
