Research Engineer – Economic Research Data Platform

About the role

Anthropic is seeking a Research Engineer to join the Economic Research Data Platform team. You will design, build, and maintain the infrastructure that enables the company’s research on AI’s economic impact, working closely with data scientists, policy experts, and other cross‑functional partners.

Key responsibilities

• Build and operate data pipelines that transform raw usage data into clean, privacy‑preserving datasets.
• Design and implement new systems, including classifiers, training probes on model internals, and the ML pipelines that support them.
• Create self‑serve workflows to ingest and integrate external data sources with internal datasets.
• Develop APIs, libraries, and interfaces that deliver data to researchers and the public.
• Partner with researchers, data scientists, and policy experts to advance Anthropic’s safety mission.
• Contribute to roadmap, documentation, and best practices for self‑serve data access while maintaining safety and governance standards.
• Ensure reliability, integrity, and privacy compliance across all economic research data infrastructure.

Required profile

• Significant experience building data‑intensive applications, pipelines, or internal tooling in production.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure platforms such as AWS.
