Registered Nurse – ICU Stepdown

About the role

Ochsner is seeking a Registered Nurse to join its ICU Stepdown unit in New Orleans. The position focuses on delivering high‑quality patient care using the Nursing Process and adhering to the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code, and Scope & Standards of Practice.

Key responsibilities

• Apply the Nursing Process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
• Assess learning needs and provide teaching to patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
• Communicate, delegate, and manage nursing team resources effectively.
• Utilize data and evidence‑based information to drive improvements in patient outcomes.
• Adapt communication and care approaches to respect cultural, ethnic, and religious diversity.

Required profile

• Education: Registered Nurse diploma required; Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred.
• Experience: No prior experience required.
• Certifications: Active RN license in the state of practice and current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; specialty certification preferred.
• Core competencies: Strong computer and data‑entry skills, proficiency with Windows‑based applications, effective verbal and written communication, and solid organizational and time‑management abilities.
