Railcar Maintenance Technician

About the role

Stadler is looking for a motivated Railcar Maintenance Technician in San Bernardino, California. The technician inspects, services, repairs and maintains diesel locomotives so they operate safely and efficiently, diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, carrying out preventative maintenance and working with a variety of tools and equipment in diverse conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Identify mechanical issues in diesel engines, air brakes and running gear.
• Use hand tools and power tools to repair or replace defective parts.
• Carry out routine inspections and servicing to keep locomotives in optimal condition.
• Analyze and resolve electrical and mechanical problems.
• Follow all railroad safety and operating rules and regulations.
• Perform duties in various conditions, including adverse weather and train yard environments.

Required profile

• High school diploma/GED and vocational training in a related field.
• Prior experience with diesel locomotives or in a similar mechanical role.
• Familiarity with diesel engines, air brakes and locomotive components.
• Ability to lift heavy objects, work in confined spaces and handle the physical demands of the job.
• Committed to safety and following safety protocols.
• Effective verbal and written communication, teamwork with colleagues and supervisors, and reliability and punctuality.
• Willingness to commute to San Bernardino, CA, if applicable.
