Professional Social Service Worker – Marietta, GA (Part‑time)

About the role

The State of Georgia seeks a Professional Social Service Worker to provide rehabilitation counseling, intake, and mental‑health services to youth in the Marietta RYDC facility. This part‑time position supports the Department of Juvenile Justice’s mission to improve outcomes for young people.

Key responsibilities

• Perform intake and mental‑health screenings for youth, ensuring timely completion of all required assessments.
• Conduct comprehensive mental‑health evaluations, write reports, and make appropriate referrals to external providers.
• Provide individual, group, and family counseling, develop treatment and crisis‑management plans, and deliver on‑call, evening and weekend support.
• Participate in multidisciplinary treatment teams, present assessment findings, and adjust treatment plans based on ongoing evaluation.
• Prepare and submit required documentation, progress notes, and reports in accordance with agency policies.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work or a closely related field.
• Licensure as a Georgia Professional Counselor, Social Worker, or Marriage and Family Therapist (or eligibility for licensure).
• Ability to conduct mental‑health assessments, develop treatment plans, and provide crisis intervention.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for documentation and team collaboration.
