Procurement Specialist

About the role

Plasmidsaurus is building a world‑class sequencing platform and needs a dedicated procurement professional to establish its first procurement function. As the inaugural Procurement Specialist, you will design lightweight processes that give research teams the supplies they need while providing visibility into spend and reducing supply‑chain risk.

Key responsibilities

• Manage vendor and subscription contracts from initial purchase through renewal.
• Lead negotiations using consistent tactics and drive better terms for high‑value agreements.
• Set up primary and backup preferred vendors for high‑use consumables across US and international labs.
• Implement a vendor‑vetting process and maintain a backup list for critical categories.
• Identify supply‑chain risks early and develop mitigation plans.
• Build and maintain a contract/renewal calendar and tracking system.
• Formalize vendor evaluation, reorder thresholds, and approval workflows to create spend visibility.
• Collaborate with the Automation Team on inventory and reorder tracking using procurement software.

Required profile

• Strong negotiation and contract management experience.
• Ability to create and enforce standardized procurement processes.
• Excellent analytical skills to spot risks and drive cost efficiencies.
• Experience working with cross‑functional lab or scientific teams.
