Procurement Director – Global 3rd Party Materials

About the role

The Director of 3rd Party Materials – Global Procurement leads the development and execution of procurement strategies for packaging materials across the Americas. Reporting to senior leadership, you will partner with business units, engineering, R&D and finance to drive cost competitiveness, sustainability and innovation.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement global category strategies for molding, metals, electronics, tapes, abrasives and films.
• Translate market intelligence on raw‑material trends, supplier capacity and technology shifts into actionable sourcing plans.
• Lead supply‑base optimization to balance cost, quality, resiliency and innovation.
• Embed procurement early in new product development, building and managing a global NPI supplier pipeline.
• Provide strategic guidance to business leaders on market trends, supplier capabilities and sourcing options.
• Oversee a team of procurement professionals and ensure alignment with 3M’s growth and operational excellence goals.

Required profile

• Proven experience in senior procurement or category management roles, preferably within the Americas region.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence cross‑functional teams.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and execute sourcing strategies that deliver measurable value.
• Experience collaborating with R&D, engineering, manufacturing and finance on product development initiatives.
• Excellent analytical and strategic thinking capabilities.
