Private Swim Instructor

About the role

Georgetown University’s Aquatics department is seeking a part‑time Private Swim Instructor to provide one‑on‑one swimming lessons. The role focuses on adult learners ranging from beginners to advanced swimmers, with occasional sessions for children.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver private swim instruction to adults (and occasionally children) at beginner, intermediate and advanced levels.
• Assess each client’s skill level and tailor lessons to address fear, technique, and progression.
• Maintain a safe pool environment and adhere to university safety policies.
• Report to the Aquatics Coordinator and contribute to the department’s revenue goals.
• Work evenings and weekends, averaging about 10 hours per week.

Required profile

• Previous experience teaching adult swimmers of varying abilities.
• Enthusiastic, friendly, and positive attitude toward clients.
• Self‑motivated with a passion for helping swimmers achieve their goals.
• Preferred but not required: CPR/AED First Aid certification and Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification.
