Principal Engineer

About the role

Vitalize is building an intelligent operating system for hospital labor and capacity. As a Principal Engineer you will lead the design and implementation of the decision engine that powers staffing recommendations, alerts, and workflows for health systems.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain the core decision‑logic that generates staffing recommendations and alerts.
• Own systems that balance staffing rules, hospital policies, patient needs, and operational constraints.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, and fellow Engineers to deliver complex, user‑friendly software solutions.
• Work directly with clinical leaders to understand real‑world staffing processes and translate them into reliable software.
• Ensure the decision engine scales reliably across multiple hospitals and integrates with existing hospital systems.

Required profile

• Proven experience building large‑scale, data‑driven software systems.
• Strong problem‑solving ability and comfort tackling ambiguous, high‑impact operational challenges.
• Excellent communication skills for partnering with product, design, and clinical stakeholders.
• Passion for improving healthcare operations through technology.
