Primary Care Physician

About the role

Ochsner Health seeks a dedicated Staff Physician to join its Primary Care team in Baton Rouge. The physician will deliver high‑quality patient care while upholding Ochsner’s core values of Patients First, Integrity, Compassion, Inclusivity, Teamwork and Excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Examine patients, diagnose clinical conditions, and prescribe appropriate medications and treatment plans.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to develop and coordinate comprehensive care plans.
• Document patient encounters accurately in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
• Order additional evaluations, make referrals, and ensure proper coding of all visits.
• Adhere to all hospital policies, credentialing standards, and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Board‑certified or board‑eligible in a primary medical specialty.
• Licensed MD/DOC and credentialed to maintain an active clinical practice.
• Commitment to professional standards and willingness to hold peers to those standards.
• Ability to travel between Ochsner facilities as needed.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Electronic Health Record (EHR) documentation.
• Knowledge of medical coding and accurate visit coding.
• Experience handling hazardous drugs and related safety protocols.
