Postdoctoral Fellow – Kidney Research

About the role

The Department of Internal Medicine at Saint Louis University School of Medicine seeks a Postdoctoral Fellow to join a multidisciplinary team focused on chronic kidney disease prevention and treatment. The fellow will conduct independent research while contributing to ongoing projects aligned with departmental goals.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct research on kidney‑protective mechanisms of SGLT2 inhibitors using mouse models of kidney disease.
• Develop and validate uremic toxin measurement methods in mice and humans.
• Collaborate on study design, data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
• Prepare reports and manuscripts for peer‑reviewed journals.
• Participate in grant writing and pursue funding opportunities.
• Mentor graduate and undergraduate students involved in research.
• Ensure compliance with ethical guidelines for human and animal research.

Required profile

• Earned doctorate in a relevant field such as Physiology, Medicine, or related discipline.
• Demonstrated research productivity or strong potential for high‑quality outputs.
• Experience with in‑vivo and in‑vitro experimental techniques.
• Familiarity with ethical considerations for human subjects research.

Required skills

• Statistical analysis using Stata, R, or SAS.
