Post Doctoral Research Associate

About the role

The University of Tulsa is seeking a Post‑Doctoral Research Associate to advance its TUFFP/TUHWALP research program. The role involves developing computational models, supervising graduate research, and contributing to peer‑reviewed publications in petroleum and fluid‑flow engineering.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, improve, and maintain models and software related to multiphase flow research.
• Supervise day‑to‑day research activities of M.S. and Ph.D. petroleum engineering students.
• Design, modify, and oversee test facilities used in experimental studies.
• Prepare graduate students for semi‑annual advisory board presentations.
• Conduct independent research projects not involving graduate students.
• Guide the preparation of research papers for technical meetings and journals.
• Deliver seminars on fluid‑flow topics to graduate audiences.
• Oversee the development of technical computer programs created by students.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Engineering Science, Petroleum, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering.
• Demonstrated record of publishing theoretical or experimental research on multiphase flow, artificial lift, or flow assurance.
• Preferably prior experimental experience with multiphase flow in pipes.

Required skills

• Proficiency in a programming language such as Matlab, Python, C++ or Fortran.
• Basic knowledge of instrumentation used in fluid‑flow experiments.
• Competence with Microsoft Office tools.
