Per Diem RN for One Day Surgery

About the role

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences is seeking a Per Diem Registered Nurse (RN PRN) to support its One Day Surgery unit. This temporary, fixed‑term position provides flexible, shift‑varying coverage for peri‑operative patient care in a fast‑paced surgical environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver direct nursing care to patients before, during, and after surgical procedures.
• Monitor vital signs, administer medications, and manage IV therapy as ordered.
• Assist the surgical team with patient positioning, instrument preparation, and sterile field maintenance.
• Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the electronic health record.
• Ensure compliance with infection control, safety protocols, and regulatory standards.

Required profile

• Current Registered Nurse license in Arkansas with PRN eligibility.
• Experience in peri‑operative or surgical nursing preferred.
• Ability to work varied shifts, including evenings, nights, and weekends.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
