Payroll Operations Manager

About the role

We are an applied AI lab building end‑to‑end software agents, creators of Devin, the first AI software engineer. We are looking for a Payroll Operations Manager to own and scale our global payroll function, ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely payments for employees, contractors, and commission recipients worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end global payroll for the U.S. and international jurisdictions, covering employees, contractors, and commission recipients.
• Design and improve systems, automation, controls, and documentation to handle increased payroll volume without proportional effort.
• Manage relationships with payroll providers, EORs, and benefits administrators, ensuring high standards of accuracy and service.
• Coordinate domestic and international payroll tax registrations, withholding, deposits, filings, reconciliations, and tax notice resolution.
• Oversee complex compensation elements such as commissions, bonuses, taxable benefits, relocation payments, and equity compensation.
• Administer programs including 401(k) contributions, payroll deductions, contractor payments, garnishments, and benefits inputs.
• Partner closely with Finance, Accounting, People Operations, Tax, and Legal to maintain clean data, compliance, and a seamless employee experience.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in payroll, accounting operations, or finance operations with ownership of complex payroll in a high‑growth environment.
• Deep experience with domestic and international payroll, including exposure to EORs, global payroll providers, and cross‑border employee scenarios.
• Proven ability to design scalable payroll processes and manage vendor relationships.
• Strong understanding of payroll tax compliance and equity compensation administration.
