Part-Time Tax Consultant (Remote/Flexible)

About the role

Shah & Co., a boutique CPA firm in San Diego, is looking for a part‑time Tax Consultant to join its team. The role offers flexible work arrangements – in‑person, hybrid or fully remote – and focuses on delivering high‑quality tax services to individuals, small businesses and corporations.

Key responsibilities

• Perform tax planning, compliance and preparation for a diverse client base.
• Conduct tax audits and ensure all filings meet federal, state and local regulations.
• Identify tax‑saving opportunities and provide strategic advice to clients.
• Handle tax controversy matters and stay current with tax law changes.
• Collaborate with senior CPAs and support team members on client projects.

Required profile

• Strong expertise in tax planning, compliance and preparation.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Experience with tax controversy and solid understanding of tax law.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Required skills

• Proficiency with tax software (CCH Axcess Tax or ProSystem fx Tax preferred).
• Familiarity with standard accounting tools.
