Part-Time Performance Standards Investigator

About the role

The City of Pearland is seeking a part‑time Performance Standards Investigator to join its Human Resources team. This position plays a critical role in promoting fairness, accountability, and compliance across the organization while supporting a high‑performing workforce.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct thorough, objective investigations into employee misconduct, workplace concerns, and policy violations.
• Interview employees, witnesses, and leadership to gather facts and ensure a complete understanding of each case.
• Analyze evidence and prepare clear, well‑documented investigative reports with findings and recommendations.
• Partner with HR leadership and department directors to support fair and consistent disciplinary decisions.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and City policies.
• Identify trends and recommend proactive solutions to reduce risk and improve workplace practices.
• Provide guidance to supervisors on performance management, documentation, and appropriate escalation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Public Administration, Criminal Justice, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
• Minimum three years of experience in employee relations, workplace investigations, or compliance.

Required skills

• Strong investigative and analytical abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws.
